In 1993, Cérès Franco decided to present his collection at Lagrasse in the Aude. Installed in two “house-museums”, this collection will be visited for twenty years by a public of connoisseurs during the summer months. Having expressed the wish to bequeath his collection so that it becomes a public good, the Association for the promotion of the Cérès Franco Collection was created in 2015 to install and bring to life his collection in a permanent place. The choice fell on Montolieu, the village of books and arts, thanks to the support of a patron, Henri Foch, who acquired the former Montolieu wine cooperative, transformed into an art centre.
With the support of all the local authorities – the commune of Montolieu, Carcassonne Agglo, the department of Aude, the Occitanie / Midi-Pyrénées region and the DRAC -, the Association is now able to organise museum quality exhibitions, to provide the public of the region with a cultural and artistic offer off the beaten track, and to prepare the donation of all the works and the building to these same local authorities.
