An exceptional edition with L’Orient-Le Jour as part of the Mediterranean Season
Created in 1994, the Rencontres d’Averroès is one of the major events dedicated to the life of ideas, on a Mediterranean scale, in connection with the world. For two years, they have become the Nouvelles Rencontres, continuing this work of intellectual and sensitive exploration. This new edition, conceived as a series of “Mediterranean crossings”, placed under the twofold watchword “Crossing / Escaping” will explore the dynamics of circulation, transformation and emancipation at work today in the Mediterranean.
With L’Orient-Le Jour, the only French-speaking daily in the Middle East and a central partner of this edition, the Nouvelles Rencontres d’Averroès 2026 invent a joint Franco-Lebanese program, nourished by dialogues between the two shores, author meetings, of researchers, artists and journalists.
This edition is being invented in Marseille with Rémi Baille, Sobhi Bouderbala, Chloë Cambreling, Julien Loiseau, Nadia Champesme and Fabienne Pavia, and in Beirut with Rima Abdul Malak, Sabyl Ghoussoub, Anthony Samrani and Émilie Sueur.
