Les Rencontres d'Averroès

Created by Thierry Fabre in 1994, Les Rencontres d’Averroès invites every year in November in Marseille, a large public to think about the Mediterranean from both shores.
Four meetings, led by different media partners, bring together researchers, historians, thinkers… around a theme that takes into account both ancient and contemporary history, international relations and recent events.
A varied artistic programme complements these meetings in the evening, in resonance with the day’s debates.
Finally, the Averroès Junior scheme, deployed throughout the region, is aimed at secondary school pupils, high school pupils and students. Throughout the year, workshops and other meetings are organised to address issues related to the themes of Les Rencontres d’Averroès and, more broadly, to the Mediterranean world and its challenges.
