Sea – 100 Photos for Press Freedom

08.06.23

This summer, the collection of 100 photos for press freedom is taking off. An ode to the beauty and fragility of the sea, seen by the greatest photographers in history. Wild and powerful, threatened and fragile, a place of subsistence and pleasure for humans and refuge for biodiversity, the many facets of the sea are revealed under the objective of Brassaï, Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Anita Conti, Robert Doisneau, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Steve McCurry, Sarah Moon, Vincent Munier, Paul Nicklen, Sebastião Salgado and many more!
From the pioneer Jean Painlevé, for whom the first unsinkable camera was developed in the 1930s, to the whale photos taken by the American Joanna Steidle, to the aquatic nudes of Henri Cartier-Bresson, the summer beaches of Robert Doisneau and Massimo Vitali, the testimony of Anita Conti, the only woman to have embarked with the cod fishermen to the confines of Newfoundland, the poetic waves of Vincent Munier or the cetaceans seized by Sebastião Salgado: The sea inspired the greatest photographers, who all chose to support Reporters Without Borders.

With contributions by Laurent Ballesta, Catherine Chabaud, Line Le Gall, Lucas Menget, Claire Nouvian and a foreword by Baptiste Morisot.
