The Vichy Culture Portrait(s) team are pleased to announce that the Portrait(s) Photography Festival is being rescheduled by way of exception to deal with the current health crisis and to enable the public to attend the various exhibitions in accordance with social distancing conditions. This year, the festival will be held from 17 July to 25 October 2020.
To keep the festival running as planned, we have had to modify the programme, reschedule certain exhibitions, invite new photographers, and postpone the photography residency and the publication of the book; some of the educational projects have also had to be cancelled.
The exhibitions will be held with free access on the Lac d’Allier Esplanade at the Vichy Cultural Centre, with access to the programme available twice. Portrait(s) pursues its exploration of a special photographic genre through twelve exhibitions that offer a photographic journey through documentary corpora and intimate approaches. More than ever, the festival continues to inspire discovery, handing down and the desire to share.

Starting on 17 July, there will be an open-air exhibition on the Lac d’Allier Esplanade of French photographer Charles Fréger’s Cimarron, a panorama of masquerades by African descendants in the Americas.
Starting on 5 September, there will be exhibitions in the Vichy Cultural Centre galleries of works by Rima Samman, Ed Alcock, Chris Steele-Perkins, Claudine Doury, Paolo Verzone, a carte blanche to the Galerie Les Douches with Bruce Wrighton, Arlene Gottfried, Paul Pouvreau, Sébastien Camboulive, Alexis Cordesse, and Des mots pour voir (Words to See) with the Neuflize OBC Foundation for a selection of works by Danielle Levitt from its collection.
