“Figures du beau”

Paris ·

01.10.15 → 15.11.15

The Institut Français du Design (IFD), created in 1951, defends excellence in creative innovation, thanks in particular to the Janus Label which, for 60 years, has rewarded companies that have distinguished themselves in the design of objects or ideas with ethical value. Whose appearance, materials used and interest for the user follow a certain idea of progress. The Institute’s forward-looking vision, as well as its commitment to companies, makes it a privileged observer at the crossroads of social and economic change.
The Cité de la Mode et du Design is dedicated to the avant-garde of fashion and design, and its architecture represents a break with “historic” Paris.

The Institut Française du Design and the Cité de la Mode et du Design present the Figures du Beau exhibition, which takes on several meanings here:

– Figures for a sequence of movements forming a whole: gestures, the movement that is the basis of the creative process.
– Figure for face. In e and, the main work of the exhibition is a video that allows to discover the faces of personalities whose creation is at the heart of their activity.
– Figure for geometric form: this branch of mathematics has been developing since Antiquity a “science of beauty” studying the ideal proportions of an object.
