Ministère de la Culture

The Ministry of Culture aims to protect, disseminate and promote culture, heritage and artistic creation, while providing support to media and cultural industries. Its fundamental mission, defined by decree, is to “make accessible to the greatest number the essential works of humanity, and first of all of France”. To this end, its action revolves around two axes: democratizing access to culture for all and supporting contemporary artistic creation, without neglecting artistic and cultural education, especially for young audiences.
The Ministry of Culture works on heritage, arts (performing arts, cinema, music, etc.), the French language, the languages of France and is at the initiative of many cultural events in France and abroad. Its action is based on a central administration in Paris, regional DRAC and public institutions such as museums and art schools.
